Medications in Pregnancy The following medications should NEVER be used during pregnancy: Ace Inhibitors Accutane Aspirin or products that contain aspirin (unless prescribed by a physician) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID'S): Ibuprofen, Naproxen (Advil, Nuprin, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn) Cipro Hormones: Estrogen, progesterone (unless prescribed by a physician) Imitrex Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) Tetracycline
The Following herbs should NEVER be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding: Goldenseal Black cohosh Penny Royal Angelica Lobelia Sinensis (Dong quai) Motherwart
The following antibiotics medications can be used during pregnancy: Penicillins (V-cillin K, Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, Augmentin) Nitrofurantoin (macrodantin, Marcrobid) Erythromycin Azithromycin (Zithromax) *The following antibiotics can be used in the second and third trimester (after twelve weeks) If you are taking any antidepressants please talk with your provider Decongestants/Cold and allergy Remedies: Benadryl Tylenol PM Chlortrimeton Saline Nose Spray Coricidin Cold/Flu Halls Tablets Zyrtec Sucrets Claritin Tavist Allergy Tylenol Allergy
The following remedies can be used in the second and third trimester (after 12 weeks), but ONLY for a maximum of one week. They should NOT be used if you have high blood pressure, or irregular heartbeat, or baby has been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.
